God, what a horrible job I’m doing at keeping this new year’s resolution, yeah? Sorry about that. I actually do update myspazz a little more frequently because there’s a little more interaction. I’m not a bad person, just more flaky than ambitious.
Anyway. here are some pictures.
I haven’t been out taking pictures lately. It’s been a bit cold, and I’m broke, and gas is a squillion dollars a gallon. I would like to take pictures of other people, but it’s hard to find models. So, I took some of myself (and attempted to not make them look like myspace vanity shots … not that there’s anything wrong with that).
(Ok, that’s a little myspazz. Don’t judge.)
I went driving around with a friend today, and we played the “I wonder where this road goes!” game. This is where it went:
It eventually took us back home (via the back way to mi casa, but not before we saw a cinder block staircase and a cool little barn.
We were starving by the time we got into town, so we ate at the Roanoke Weiner Stand (hurr hurr.) It’s actually kind of a cool little place, you eat there, but there aren’t a lot of seats, so many people end up standing at the counter in the middle. We (Jody, Bruce, and I) ended up in a corner near the wall, looking at some of the ephemera of famous people and Weiner Stand history. A
I’m not sure what store we were in when I took this, but I love it. Jody is frequently in motion, so I think this one is pretty apt.
This lady was one of the many, many people who were set up in the little market area selling stuff. She made some really, really cool jewelry that was just … mind boggling in it’s intricacy. And I love her hat.

There’s this random quarter carousel outside of the dollar store here. I love it because the colors are so vibrant. But upon closer inspection, it’s probably as old as I am. The worn paint and small chips make me smile because it’s probably been well loved.

I had a pretty awesome day today to combat the really, really crappy one I had yesterday. I worked for a little while, then took my mom to run a few errands (she’s really sick, no food in the house, prescriptions unfilled, etc). I drove around for a little while thinking Deep Thoughts and taking pictures of things, and then went to Adie and Sasha’s where the plied me with Ramen and let me play video games. Emmie and I pretty much rule at Tony Hawk’s Pro-Skater 2 (the best of all the Tony Hawk games, duh).
It was SO So so cold when I left there that in spite of the fierce little heater in my car, I chattered (teeth chattering, not like … a squirrel or anything) all the way home. I laid down to read for a little minute and fell asleep. When i woke up punker cousin was here, and I cut his hair for him and taught him how to use product. It was SO cute. At one point he actually said: I’m a human being, not a doll. Stop treating me like some kind of weird grooming experiment. And then he laughed and laughed. It was a little maniacal. It turned out really well, though, and I think he’s pleased with it, too.

This is a small building that had been previously scoped out. It’s pretty worn down, but I think those are the most interesting things to take pictures of. Deep sense of macabre? You decide. I usually prefer b&w photography, but the brick is so worn it’s almost pink.

I’ve been sort of involved for the past couple of days working, or working on various projects, so I haven’t made any special trips to scenic places. I did go to two of my favorite non-scenic ones today. The post office and the library. They’re not flashy or exciting, but they fill me with a deep sense of well-being.

This is the huge church on main street. It’s really pretty and I’ve only been inside of it once. (My mom got married the first time there).
